Team Viva la Vida is excited to ride/walk our third Tour de Streets together in honor of a special woman whose favorite expression while raising a glass or salsa dancing in the street was "Viva la vida!" ("long live life!"). This expression reflects both the spirit of the late Lynda Knapp (mother and nana to team organizers Julia & Maya Wallerce) and the spirit of Tour de Streets- a celebration of life! Because let's be honest- nobody should risk or lose their life while simply moving about through their community, whether by bike, car, transit, or foot.
Tour de Streets also celebrates the life and spirit of Bob Zeeb along with other members of our Metro Boston community whose lives have been lost or dramatically altered by traffic crashes. An avid bicyclist, Bob died in 2009 as a result of a crash while training for a cross-country ride.
Together with the Zeeb family, LivableStreets has built Tour de Streets as a memorial to loved ones, encouraging reflection and action to further a vision for safer streets and more livable communities.
Since 2010, Tour de Streets has grown into one of LivableStreets' most popular events for avid and recreational cyclists, families with small children and everyone in between.
Please help our team raise over $3,000 to support LivableStreets Alliance in their powerful campaigns to create Better Buses, Vision Zero (no traffic fatalities on our streets!), the Emerald Network and more!
