Since the start of quarantine, I've been running with my mom and my sister. It has been a great way to get outdoors and get moving as we encourage each other, helping us all to feel happier and healthier. I want everyone to be able to experience this.
Also during quarantine, I have been brainstorming ideas for my Silver Award and I thought about how great it would be to bring this same happiness to people in my community. The Silver Award is the highest award a Girl Scout cadette can earn. Girls earn it by devoting time to doing something lasting for their community. I am hoping to encourage friends and families to come together to run, walk, and move. This is my first step.
Unfortunately, quarantine has also brought the news of friends and family fighting cancer. I am hoping to raise money for cancer research while also helping participants be more happy and healthy along the way.
I will be supporting your movement with virtual encouragement, tips and tricks, and creating a virtual community to move towards a cure. Create your own team or come together virtually to keep on moving.
Here is how it works:
Ready to move? Set your goal to move and move towards a cure, press "Join" to add your family or group and start fundraising through our site and share your story. Who will you run for?
Not up for a run? Press "Donate" to give to the cause through an existing group of your choice.
Press "Share" to share with others you know who may be interested in participating or donating.
Join my private Facebook group (Virtually Together: Moving Towards a Cure) to view my tips and tricks to encourage you along the way.
Move with me towards a cure with a moving celebration on May 31st (Memorial Day). Share your selfies on the go and celebrate your impact on your own health and the health of others.
