We are excited to announce that we are keeping our popular Big Fix-A-Thon going this year and keeping our volunteers safe by going VIRTUAL!
Help us use the excitement, energy, and enthusiasm this annual event generates by participating in this year’s Virtual Big Fix-A-Thon to help year-rounders stay housed and safe.
Now more than ever, HOUSING is the foundation to keep our community safe and healthy!
Online Registration: All participants are encouraged to register online. The deadline to register is Saturday, October 3rd.
WAYS TO GET INVOLVED
Big Fix Fundraiser & Neighbor: These individuals are special Big Fix supporters who want to raise funds for Housing Assistance’s Workforce Housing Relief Fund leading up to the event, and are encouraged to perform an act of kindness to give back to a neighbor in need or for their community.
Participants will be mailed an event T-shirt and a neck gaiter to stay safe.
Big Fix Neighbor ($25 Donation): In the spirit of the annual Big Fix event, put the neighbor in neighborly and offer to help your neighbors in need! For example — offer to rake your neighbor’s yard, clean their gutters, mow their lawn, weed their garden, etc., all from a safe distance.
If you prefer, you can organize a community-oriented project, like a beach or street cleanup in your neighborhood, all while adhering to social distancing protocols.
Admission includes a $25 donation. Participants will be mailed an event T-shirt and a neck gaiter to stay safe, covered by the admission fee.
Big Fix Fundraiser: These Big Fix supporters want to virtually raise funds for Housing Assistance’s Workforce Housing Relief Fund leading up to the event. Participants will be mailed an event T-shirt.
*Waiver for Big Fix Neighbor Participants: I AM VOLUNTARILY PARTICIPATING IN THE VIRTUAL BIG FIX-A-THON AS A BIG FIX NEIGHBOR AND I AM PARTICIPATING IN THE ACTIVITY ENTIRELY AT MY OWN RISK. NONETHELESS, I ASSUME ALL RELATED RISKS, BOTH KNOWN AND UNKNOWN TO ME, OF MY PARTICIPATION IN THE AFOREMENTIONED ACTIVITY.
Get your Big Fix Neighbor service project(s) done on or before the event (10/3). Post your photos to our Facebook Event and/or tag us @haconcapecod + #BigFixNeighbor + #BigFix2020. Once we see your post, we’ll share it with our many supporters and inspire others to help support their community.
WHAT IS THE WORKFORCE HOUSING RELIEF FUND?
In April, Housing Assistance established the Workforce Housing Relief Fund to provide urgent and ongoing assistance with past due rent or mortgage payments or other housing-related expenses to current, year-round Cape Cod and Islands residents who are losing income due to the coronavirus.

WILL THERE STILL BE BIG FIX HOMES THIS YEAR?
Due to concerns surrounding COVID-19, we've decided to postpone the in-person volunteer projects at Big Fix Homes in Orleans to October 2021. Even though we are not proceeding with this portion of the event, we've decided to proceed with the Virtual Big Fix-A-Thon to help raise funds and give back to our many neighbors in need.
