HRA Village, Inc., (d/b/a The Independence Village) was started in 1982 when a small group of passionate parents and guardians gathered to form the entity known today as The Independence Village. The mission of The Independence Village is to be the VOICE for our Residents who Valiantly Overcome Individual Challenges Everyday. Our Vision is to help our Residents achieve their VOICE and experience the highest level of personal independence possible. The Village provides safe, affordable housing for adults with intellectual and/or physical challenges and maintains a healthy, happy home-like atmosphere that fosters community involvement and independent lifestyles.
When Hurricane Harvey hit the Gulf Coast area, it left devastation all around us, including one of our vans. This van was used to transport our Residents to/from work and other activities within our community. We are looking to replace this van so the transportation needs for the Residents will be secure and sustainable.
Your donations will ensure that The Village can:
- Continue to provide reliable transportation for our Residents to enjoy outings, community events, getting to/from their places of employment, to/from doctor visits, and at all times have dependable means of evacuation should the need arise.
- Provide assistance to long-term residents who desire to live independently.
- Keep admission costs lower by helping to cover the gap between what it costs for us to provide for a resident and what we charge.
- Ensure the long-term future of The Independence Village by allowing us to meet our growing needs while remaining sustainable.
