To bring this vision to life, Youth Empowerment Initiative is raising money to cover start-up and operating costs for computers, supplies and initial internet setup.
Over the past 2 years Youth Empowerment Inititive has collaborated with Ekta Center which has adopted village Bhrapur, Etha UP in India to develop a youth sports program. Due to the communities needs, this one project to teach self-defense and leadership has led to many new initiatives, which include planting over 200 trees and establishing the first vertical farm. The vertical farm is an innovative tool in the village allowing 4 different plants to grow in an area that used to support a single crop.
For the next project, Youth Empowerment Initiative seeks to establish a remote learning center in the village. Bringing not only computer skills, but providing access to vocational skills that are normally costly and several hours commute to the next city. Bookkeeping, Computer Skills, Access to On-line Resources and Documentation are some initial areas of focus. To do this we are partnering with an Indian online teaching platform to connect gifted distance educators with our in-field coaches. This approach provides both in-person, individually paced training and qualified teachers from all over the world who may not otherwise be available.
