In just a short time, on March 17th, I will be running the NYC United Half marathon. This will be my fourth year completing this amazing race.
When applying to this race you can get accepted 2 ways; through the luck of the lottery or pledging to fundraise for a charity. This year I was lucky enough to get in through the lottery. However, I still feel it is important to to run for a cause and raise money for a well deserving charity/organization. Since I get in through the lottery, I am able to pick any cause and I am not limited to "participating charities," so this year I decided to pick a charity that is nearest and dearest to myself.
For those who don't know much about me, I am a BIG animal lover. I have three dogs; my eldest a BUGG Roxie, a street girl Jezabell and a Boxer Julius. They are my absolute loves! I knew right away I wanted to run for a animal society. I thought of many really cool organziations. I thought about raising for WORLD SOCIETY FOR THE PROTECTION OF ANIMALS, or some organization that resuces animals during natural disasters. After much time of going back and forth, I decided to run for a local animal shelter.
My sweet girl Jezabell, was a stray pup that we found living on the streets of south San Antonio, and without the help of services from the local Animal Defense league we could have NEVER gotten her cleaned up and healthy. So I truly understand the importance of local animal services! I wanted to find an orginzation that I could help others (easily) understand the importance of. After talking with many people I decided to fundraise for the Verona Street Animal Society (Rochester Animal Services). I knew right away they would be a good organization when I learned they have a play yard for the dogs, to help them get adopted.
So Please consider donating a few dollars or even goods (they have a wish list of items). Help me raise money for these sweet animals!
