As a kid I quickly grew to love sailing. From the moment I started, I was hooked. Maybe it was the beauty of the water, the science behind making the boat go forward or the sense of competition.
Unfortunately, all of that changed in 1982 when I had an accident that injured my spinal cord and paralyzed much of my body. For half of a decade I didn’t sail at all. Years later, when I was able to get back into the sport, it was among the most important things that helped to bring my life back together. Since 2003, I have been sailing with CRAB and it’s where I go to enjoy the sport that I love – just like before.
CRAB is an amazing organization that brings sailing to nearly 1,000 people each summer and changes lives. The vast majority of participants are disabled or are their “friends & family” companions. I have also been a volunteer member of the board directors and President of the Board. Every August is our big “ask” for donations and, if possible, I’d like you to consider supporting CRAB and it’s mission.
