Venture Academy families have been hit extremely hard by 2 major events in 2020. First, the worldwide pandemic put many of our families out of work. Second, the murder of George Floyd and the destruction of their community that followed has left families without resources. The majority of our students live near Lake St in South Minneapolis or near Broadway in North - both areas that have been devasted by arson and looting. Over 200 businesses have been damaged, with many buildings simply burned to the ground. These were the places where our families shopped for basic essentials.
Let's be clear about this. Venture families were experiencing food insecurity and living in a food desert before all this. Now, their needs are vast and urgent.
Our families in need will need to look no further than Venture Academy.
Our goal is simple. We want to provide our families with healthy, diverse, and nutritious foods, basic essentials such as soap, diapers and toilet paper, clothes, bedding and any other item that our families may need. We will create a marketplace that will hold all these items and will distribute these items either through delivery or allow families to come to get them on Fridays. All donation money will go directly towards purchased items. Venture Academy itself is funding all overhead and operational costs.
Please consider giving!
