This year I will be rucking in remembrance of two veterens.
One of those veterans is Mr Ron Lesley who served two tours in Vietnam as part of the 75th Airborne Rangers. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart, Bronze Medal, and Silver Star, and was also inducted into the Ranger Hall of Fame. Mr Lesley was a friend of my family for 25+ years, He passed on Nov 4, 2019.
The second is Mark Derome. He was a coworker of mine at the MIT:Haystack Observatory. He worked for MIT for 25 years and servered in the Navy. He enjoyed helping people and he even volunteered his personal time to help my son get his community service hours by performing trail maintenance. He passed on Aug. 12,2019.
This ruck is only a small way that I can thank these men and their families for their sacarifices! Semper Fi!
For people that dont know what the Toughruck is let me explain. The Tough Ruck is a 26.2 mile walk/run with a backpack "ruck" weighing 15lbs. This is done by groups of military and civilians whose sole purpose is to Ruck in honor and in memory of our Fallen Service Members, Police, Firefighters and EMTs, while raising funds to support military families in times of need. We will walk a 26.2 mile certified course with our Rucks and carry the names of our Fallen comrades with us.
Tough Ruck is the only Ruck march partnered with the Boston Marathon and finishers are awarded the official Boston Marathon Medals and receive recognition from the Boston Athletic Association. Military Friends Foundation is the official charity of Tough Ruck.
