Hi! I am Elizabeth Koch; wife, Marine Corps spouse, mom, nurse, running coach, and team USO Boston Marathon runner. I have a long time goal of running the Boston Marathon, and I am honored to be running it for the first time this year while representing the USO. I am the very proud wife of Marine Corps Major Andy Koch, who also happens to be a 2019 Team USO runner! We have been married for 14 years and are blessed with 3 awesome kids; Olivia (11), Alexandra (6), and Collin (3). The Marine Corps has taken our family on many great adventures through the years, and we’ve had the opportunity to live around the world. We are currently living in Newport, RI where my husband serves as the Executive Officer of the Naval Academy Preparatory School.
In addition to all my Mom-Duties, I am a nurse at Newport Hospital and a running and endurance coach for a small business called Valkyrie Performance. Valkyrie helps train and equip women through mentoring, strength and endurance training to enter and excel in typically male dominate fields such as the military, fire and police career fields. I have been blessed with the opportunity to help provide the endurance based training for these women through a remote coaching platform. I am a CrossFit Coach, CrossFit Endurance Coach, and Aerobic Capacity Training Ambassador. I have competed in a handful of half-marathon, marathon, and triathlon races through the years including the Garmin Marathon in Olathe, KS, where I earned a Boston Qualifying time of 3:38.
I am truly honored to be running on Team USO in representation of military families and the USO. The USO serves families just like mine all around the globe during times of deployment and while at home. Their support helps keep families connected and supported through all the different phases of military life. Everything from a friendly face and free snacks at an airport USO, to internet coverage on a small base overseas, the USO has served us and many other families in so many ways. Please join me in thanking the USO for their service to us and supporting their service to future military members and families through a donation. Thank you!
