The Green Building Tech Program - Training the Next Generation of Green Building Professionals
This year USGBC MA launched the Green Building Tech Program at Madison Park Vocational Technical High School in Roxbury, MA. The Green Building Tech Program at Madison Park High School is a bridge for vocational high school students to be introduced to the sustainability field by teaching them the technical skills and knowledge needed to operate green buildings. This program aims to close the green skills gap in the sustainability workforce. The green skills gap is the lack of technicians trained to operate green buildings in the current market.
100% of the proceeds of this fundraiser will go into funding paid internships for the students to gain first-hand experience in the green building sector. Our goal is to raise $15,000 to provide students the opportunity to advance their technical and professional skills, by providing them with real-life experience at a company and gain the potential for long-term employment.
The Green Building Tech Program goal is to provide a pathway to success for these students. Besides the internship, each student is provided with a professional mentor in the sustainability field to guide and support their learning process.
