Asalamu Alaykum and Ramadan Mubarak to all of you.
Masjid Manhattan is one of the long standing masjids in NYC located in the heart of downtown Manhattan where we attract thousands of the working Muslims who find it easily accessible during their work day for prayers and classes. We have worked hand in hand with our community for many years to offer support and and guidance to others. As you know, the COVID-19 has changed almost all aspects of our lives, thus leading to our decision to close the Masjid until safe to reopen. This crisis has detrimentally limited our resources and the ability to raise funds this month of Ramadan. Unfortunately, Masjid Manhattan has received a notice from the Department of Buildings changes to the elevator system to meet DOB 2020 Code for Elevators, and also, an upgrade to the Fire Monitoring System. If these updates are not done withing a timely manner our beloved masjid will be in VIOLATION of the code and could face fines and other reprimands.
We are reaching out to you for help. We have a proposal in hand of $35,000. We must raise these funds for these urgent repairs ASAP. We are confident that Insha'Allah, if we all unite as we have done in the past, we can reach our goal and keep our elevator up and running and our mosque a safe haven for all. Please keep in mind that this elevator is essential to our masjid to aid the brothers and sisters who can not climb the stairs to the prayer area.
Allah, the Generous, in His infinite mercy assures us that the good deeds of His righteous servants will be multiplied up to 700 times or even more. "The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed which grows seven spikes, in each spike is a hundred grains. Allah multiplies His reward for whom He wills, for Allah is vast and knowing." (2:261)..
