Calling all wordsmiths, doodlers, readers, and believers!
This December 12th, step right up and experience the mystery and wonder that is Saturday Write Live! Madam Far-Eye (aka Jane LeCroy) will be your mistress for the evening, as you wander through the 12 most intriguing virtual rooms in Washington Heights. See what your cards reveal and then discover what happens when you Spin the Wheel of Names, roll Haiku die, crack Magic Eggs, peek through keyholes onto mysteries and more; or choose to just lurk in the shadows observing the rolling activities that will entice you to jump in and play. We guarantee more adventure, thrills and laughter than you’ve ever imagined could happen on Zoom.
Usually, Uptown Stories is all about the kids, but due to the mind-altering effect of these writing games, this special event is for ADULTS ONLY (Not even the 12 sons of Odin will be invited.) 12 games will be played, 12 futures will be determined, and 12 lives will be changed forever. We also have 12 prizes for 12 lucky winners.
Tickets are $24, and include an all-access link to all 12 rooms, plus you get to add four of your favorite words to the Extraordinarily Infamous Word Bank.
Unable to attend Saturday Write Live? We’ll miss you, but you can still make a difference by making a tax-deductible donation to Uptown Stories. And for every $12 you donate, you can add one word to the Word Bank, so you’ll still be part of the fun. There will be a finished piece that you will see your words at work in.
Every dollar from every ticket sale, sponsored word, and donation will go towards supporting the young writers and artists of Uptown Stories.
At Uptown Stories, our mission is to inspire kids to discover and develop their inner voices in a diverse community of writers. Based in Washington Heights, we offer after-school, weekend, and summer creative writing workshops for children ages 7-17, led by rock-star teachers, who are also professional authors and artists. To ensure our program is accessible to our ethnically and economically diverse community, our tuition is “pay-what-you-can.” Uptown Stories creates an exciting, challenging, and supportive community in which young authors from all backgrounds thrive.
