UDFH Corners for Cancer was created in 2009. A member of our family, Mary Kay Greenwood, was diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer, and was courageously battling the disease. Her daughter Maura, was a graduate of the UDFH program, so we felt we needed to do something to help find a cure, and with that Corners for Cancer was born. Since that time, Mary Kay continued to battle, and more importantly taught us how to fight with courage and dignity, all while enjoying the little things in life. Mary Kay passed away on October 29th, 2013, but not before leaving a profound, positive impact on so many of those around her. She will always be in our hearts. The event continues in her memory, while recognizing so many other friends and family members who battle various types of cancer. The members of the Upper Dublin HS field hockey team strive to promote this event this year, and their efforts have paid off by raising over $77,000.00 in just the past 10 years. Will you help us make the 11th annual event the best one yet? We hope so! Although we use pink as the color to highlight our day, we play for ALL CANCERS & ALL COLORED RIBBONS! In the era of precision medicine, doctors want to use genetics to select the most effective drugs for each individual patient. It’s time to move beyond individual cancer types – different colored ribbons. By way of precision medicine, we will find cures for all types of cancer. By supporting NFCR’s scientists in their invaluable research endeavors, you are helping pave the way to do exactly that: cure cancer. We have all been affected by cancer in some way or other or know those who have been. Make a decision to Play 4 them. Make a decision to help NFCR pave the way to finding a cure. Together, playing for ALL CANCERS, ALL COLORS and through ALL SPORTS, we will make a difference.
