Alzheimer’s is personal for me! Three and a half years ago I lost my mother, our Nana, to Alzheimer’s. What I did not know at the time was how profoundly this disease would change my life.
The Alzheimer’s Family Support Center was there for myself and my family to guide and educate us through this nightmare. It’s impossible to imagine how I would have managed without the never-ending support of my family. There was so much I didn’t know about this disease, adversely impacting my caregiving for both mom and myself. I didn’t want to see this happen to another family.
I started working for Alzheimer’s Support Center a year after mom’s death. I went through their training and advanced training to be able to teach families about the disease, the behaviors associated with the disease and most importantly, how to use this knowledge to take better care of their loved one and themselves. I felt that this was the essential missing piece for me and my family.
Every donation goes directly to supporting and educating families in the same crisis I was in. Please help me support the Center so that we can continue to offer support services and reach out to every family on Cape Cod that is walking this challenging path of caregiving.
