The global effects of violence and persecution have forced over twenty-five million people out of their home countries. For those refugees fleeing war zones, civil strife, violence, or persecution, the International Rescue Committee provides an opportunity for safety and freedom in America. Working with governments, civic organizations, and local volunteers, the IRC helps individuals rebuild their lives and become part of their new communities.
The IRC in Dallas welcomes refugees settling here and helps them find a sense of home. They do so by providing a safe living environment, access to quality health services, ESL and job skill classes, and employment services. Working with volunteers and community organizations, the IRC hopes to bring safety and a sense of freedom to these new community members. In the past year, the IRC of North Texas has welcomed 259 refugees from 13 countries, distributed 4,000+ pounds of fresh produce and food, and secured 177 job placements.
