These funds will help us provide programming that is free and open to the public, such as outdoor fitness classes, live music, and theatre performances.
UPDATE: If UCI can reach $12,000 in donations by 4/12, The Weathertop Foundation will donate an additional $3000!
Please lend a hand! UCI was selected as a finalist for the USA Today Network "A Community Thrives" challenge grant. We have the opportunity to earn a $100,000 grant for UCI's proposed Euclid Avenue Place-Making project. In order to earn this grant, UCI is being asked to raise $6,000 by April 12 and we hope we can count on your donation!
University Circle Inc.'s (UCI) Euclid Avenue Place-Making Project focuses on enhancing a one-mile stretch of Euclid Avenue between East 118th Street and East Boulevard, the Uptown neighborhood, as well as removing barriers that currently inhibit a diverse cross-section of Clevelanders from accessing this neighborhood.
There are two aspects of this project. The first is the renovation of 10-year-old improvements made to Euclid Avenue, including planting and lighting enhancements and the second is the installation and implementation of new neighborhood art, amenities such as plans for a dog park, more bike racks and programming to engage visitors and residents of the Uptown neighborhood.
Specific outcomes of the Euclid Avenue Place-Making Project include:
· UCI will contribute to the creation of an accommodating neighborhood for visitors and residents through programming, amenities, and physical improvements.
· Uptown will possess a unique sense of place, developed through street beautification, the addition of amenities, and creative/artistic placemaking.
· The neighborhoods adjacent to University Circle, such as Glenville and East Cleveland will experience easier access to Uptown and experience stability generated by the proximity of a sustainable “anchor” neighborhood.
With your help, this project will ultimately create a thriving Uptown district which will provide a unique public experience designed to complement and involve the diverse groups of people who live, work, play, socialize, and learn in University Circle.
