I am fundraising for United in Stide, an organization that pairs sighted guides with blind and visually impaired runners like me.
On july 20th I am attempting my first 100 mile race at the Tahoe Rim Trail Endurance RUn. I'll be joined by my sighted guides and Crew Kathryn, Leah, Jamie, Chris, and Ethan. I've been training all winter in the rain and in the dark with guides to get up aboe the treeline and puruse some goals.
WIth luck I'll finish TRT and join my guide Matt in Oregon for the 2019 The Hood to Coast relay. Matt and I will be racing with a team of 10 accomplished blind runners and 10 sighted guides. Our Team hopes to bring attention to the need for sighted guides across North America. Guides a critical part of enabling blind athletes to living fullfiling and active lifestyles and I wouldn't be able to run races like these wihtout them.
United in Stride is a tool that unites sighted guides and blind runners across North America using a zip code “Find a Partner” function. No experience is necessary. Anyone with the eyes to see, feet to run and heart to serve is capable of learning to guide. If interested, create a profile at www.unitedinstride.com.
