Our team name was brainstormed amongst friends who also have loved one's that have special needs just like my son Lucas who is autistic.
We feel that we are all unique in our own way whether we are autistic or caring for someone who is autistic. As a single mother to my son, I can honestly say he has changed me, with his delayed speech, I have to find new ways to communicate with him, as he has to do the same with me. It takes a unique love, to continue to find ways to teach, interact, and grow together despite the challenge of not being able to communicate, something as simple as saying "mom".
So, in an effort to continue to promote education on ASD and have the resources available for sensory friendly activities for all those affected like Lucas, I am looking forward to doing this walk on 9/15/2019.
In honor of Lucas turning 4 next month, I set the goal at $400, in hopes that it will be easier to meet, especially since I don’t do well asking for donations.
I am very grateful to all of those who have already signed up for our team, those that have donated, and even those that can't do either, but have been very supportive of Lucas and I in many other ways.
Thank you all for your time, support, and donations!
