Help Sustain Rescued Thoroughbreds
Unbridled Thoroughbred Foundation is a volunteer-run, donor-supported 501(c)3 public charity. We are devoted to protecting Thoroughbreds from slaughter, and sustaining a teaching herd of Thoroughbreds in Sanctuary. Our commitment to fiscal transparency has earned the Guidestar Platinum Seal, and our excellence in equine care is recognized by the Equus Guardian Seal, and Accreditation from the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries.
In mid-March of this year as the Novel Coronavirus began its unrelenting assault on New York—UNBRIDLED closed its gates to comply with Governor Cuomo’s mandate to shut all non-essential businesses. Our on-site programs were suspended---Open Days, Tours, School Programs, Community Workshops etc. The financial stress of this closure is significant. These revenue streams help to fund the care and feeding of our 18 Thoroughbreds whose lives we saved from abuse, neglect, and an unspeakable end in slaughter plants.
The Horses of Unbridled are beloved members of our community. They willingly participate in our educational courses, programs, and workshops as companions, friends, healers, teachers, and therapists.
To care and feed for each individual horse, UNBRIDLED requires $20 per day, per horse. Each day, the Herd consumes 300-lbs of Grain, and 300-lbs of Hay. Unlike a car that can be parked in a garage to wait for a return to ‘normalcy, as living beings, Horses cannot be set aside. Nutrition is vital, without sufficient daily portions of Hay and Grain they will falter fast.
I pour my heart and soul into fulfilling the promise we made to our Horses when we redeemed their lives from indignity, suffering, and slaughter. Horses you may have read about like Get Goin’ BB, Indy’s Lucky Prize, Time For Angie, Pleasant Pastures, Skye Serenade, and SmokingToWin – each of whom will celebrate a special Birthday in May.
In this particularly trying moment, it bends my soul in half to look into their big beautiful brown eyes, knowing the jeopardy that the pandemic casts on their future.
I am reaching out to you for help as our ability to act is reliant on the generosity of people like you. As we respond to the growing challenges brought on by COVID-19, I am asking for an EMERGENCY DONATION that will be put to work IMMEDIATELY and matched by #GivingTuesdayNow to address our most urgent needs.
As we continue to adapt to a world fraught with uncertainty, I am heartened to see the best of humanity rising to help so many in need. I remain fully committed to protect our horses while leading UNBRIDLED through this crisis with your help and support.
