Happy New Year from Spring, Zippy and Emily!
We’re so excited to be prepping our Ugandan workshop. The work on the ground has begun and we are looking forward to the first day of class on January 20th.
As you know, expressing ourselves in the best of times was challenging as teenagers. Imagine having experienced displacement, abuse, kidnapping, and other violent acts and then trying to find a way to express this to strangers so that you can begin to receive the help and community you need for survival and healing.
We are so happy that, after three years of doing I’ll Tell You My Story, we are seeing our former participants thrive. So many of them are expressing themselves with courage, strength and hope. We also love that many have incorporated communication skills into their future career plans.
Thanks so much to all of you who have donated this year, and in the past! We’ve raised about $12,000 of our $15,000 goal, thanks to on-line donations, checks in the mail, and fundraising events.
We still hope to reach our goal! Although we are forging ahead on our shoe-string budget, we really want to provide our new group of girls with a security team on photography fieldtrips, four video cameras for video practice, and a final evening exhibition where the girls share their work with the community. Another $3000 would insure these things.
We hope you’ll join us in making this a powerful experience here in Uganda!
Thank you for continuing to be with us in so many ways.
Weebale Nnyo (Thank you very much!)
Emily, Spring and Zippy
