The Timmy Global Health organization is dedicated to making healthcare accessible in a continuity-based model within the regions of the world where healthcare is inaccessible. Based in Indianapolis, Timmy Global Health sends groups of doctors, pharmacists, nurses, and other professionals along with students from universities on medical service trips to countries such as Ecuador, Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic. Each university or high school chapter supports a specific community. Our LA-based chapter supports underserved communities in Mao, Dominican Republic. Undergraduate student-run chapters not only have the opportunity to go on these medical brigades but also to support these communities between brigades financially through fundraising. Unfortunately, due to recent circumstances of COVID-19, these brigades have not been able to occur, making it difficult to provide these disparate communities with the resources they need in this time.
Last August, our chapter had the privilege of traveling to Mao, Dominican Republic for the first time in order to work alongside our partner Banelino, a banana production association based in the DR. Over the span of a week, we assisted in providing medical care to over 500 patients in three various communities in the Domincan Republic where healthcare is not easily accessible. These brigades have a profound impact not only on the individuals living in this community, but also to the volunteers that are able to experience these disparities first hand, as I had my first time last year. Many of our undergraduate students were planning on returning to the DR this year, however our group will most likely be unable to travel due to the pandemic. This means we will not be able to bring the medical supplies, medications, and nutritional supplements that help us and our partner clinic treat patients.
In order to help clinics maintain patient care, Timmy has organized a chapter-wide fundraising effort to raise money for supplies and resources to help clinics treat patients. If you would like to help out during this time, please donate on this page. These donations will go directly towards the medical services for the communities abroad. From educational nutrition services to monthly check-ups, Timmy has truly empowered our partner clinic and helped it become a central part of the community in Mao. I couldn't be more grateful to be a part of Timmy and help in this global effort, so please consider donating to help these communities receive the care they need.
Thank you for your consideration,
