All of us are adjusting to the current COVID-19 situation, and the Upper Credit Humane Society is no exception. While our staff remain at the shelter caring for the animals, we have taken actions to help protect the animals, our employees, volunteers and members of the community.
We have closed the shelter to public visits and are completing adoptions by appointment only. We have suspended all volunteer activities and have cancelled our fundraising events scheduled in March and April to minimize risk and help prevent the spread of the virus.
Our Thrift Shop, which contributes a great deal to our financial ability to operate the shelter, closed temporarily on March 17. This eliminates a regular source of revenue for UCHS, which is used to provide daily care for the animals (food, veterinary care, medical requirements, etc.) and maintain our shelter operations.
This is a very difficult time for all of us, and we remain focused on providing a healthy and safe environment for the animals in our care, and helping them to find new homes. This is becoming increasingly challenging with significant sources of revenue being cut off. The Upper Credit Humane Society is funded primarily through donations, fundraising activities and the revenue generated by the Thrift Shop.
If you are able to donate financially, your gift will help us care for the animals, keep them safe and allow us to continue placing them in permanent homes while we navigate the current situation with COVID-19.
Donations will directly support the daily care of the animals, including food, medical expenses, veterinary care and other operating costs. Thank you for your support during these unprecedented times.
UCHS is a registered charity #89378872RR0001 and any donations for $20 or more will receive a tax receipt.
