The University Laboratory School (U-High) is a coeducational, college preparatory school serving 1,436 students in grades kindergarten through 12. U-High is one of the six schools operated under the auspices of the Louisiana State University College of Human Sciences & Education. In addition to servings as an independent school system, U-High exists to provide training opportunities for pre- and in-service teachers and to serve as a demonstration and educational research center. U-High is located on the main campus of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, which is the capital of Louisiana with a population of over 600,000.
Throughout the month of October, the U-High community which consists of faculty, staff, students and their families will demonstrate cancer awareness by wearing pink shirts during designated school functions, including athletic events. Beginning September 5 and continuing through September 19, the school will make specially designed shirts available for sale, with plans to distribute the purchased shirts in time for the October activities.
As part of U-High's cancer awareness campaign, the school would like to make a special appeal to participants encouraging them to make a separate donation directly to the American Cancer Society.
