Dear friends and family,
Super typhoon Goni is the world’s most powerful typhoon in 2020 to date.
It is also the most powerful storm to hit the Philippines since the catastrophic Typhoon Haiyan in 2013.
Less than two weeks after Super Typhoon Rolly/Goni, Typhoon Ulysses/Vamco left many residents trapped in floodwaters or taking refuge in evacuation centers.
In total, OCHA reports that some 1.9 million people are affected by this current typhoon season, leaving an estimated 845,000 people in need of humanitarian assistance. These numbers are only expected to increase in the coming days.

Supporting Super Typhoon Victims
UNICEF is particularly concerned for children who are incredibly vulnerable during Typhoon season due to potential overcrowding in evacuation centers, flooding and landslides, as well as further depletion of resources that might prevent families and local governments to respond sufficiently as a result of COVID-19.
The Philippines has reported more than 380,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases, the second highest in Southeast Asia, with 7,221 deaths.
