As my first year of vet school at Purdue comes to a close I have been afforded the opportunity to pay it forward for pet owners with minimal access to vet care. In August I will be working with RAVS (Rural Area Veterinary Services) to provide spay/neuters, wellness care and acute treatments in Turtle Mountain, ND. As animal owners we often take for granted our vet being a call away and that we can pay our bill. Love for our pets isn’t relative to income and I find it a privilege to participate in serving those with limited resources.
My commitment includes raising funds specifically for the clinical supplies being used as I work alongside veterinarians donating their time and expertise. A gift of $10 provides vaccines for a cat or dog; $35 a spay/neuter; $100 spay/neuter, vaccines, wellness care.
As you are spread out across the country, my having a bake sale is probably not practical! Please research RAVS and if you are as affected by the underserved pets and owners as I am and able to contribute, you will be making a lifelong impact.
Thanks for your support!!

In August of 2019, RAVS staff and volunteers will travel to northern North Dakota for 5 days of field clinics on the Turtle Mountain Chippewa Reservation. The team of roughly 30 veterinary students and 15 professional volunteers will offer free spay/ neuter and wellness care to more than 1,000 animals in this remote community where regular veterinary care is not available. In addition to wellness services, RAVS’ volunteers will care for animals with a wide range of health concerns including puppies suffering from parvovirus and distemper infections and older animals suffering from multiple infirmities. We will help animals with old traumatic injuries and festering wounds, returning them to a happier life with their family. While providing this care, our volunteers and staff will be educating the family on animal care and public health, helping to make the community a better place for the animals and the people of Turtle Mountain. https://tmchippewa.com/
