In 2010, I ran my first NYC Marathon, fundraising on behalf of Tuesday’s Children. So much can change in the course of a decade, but TC remains the same selfless, dedicated organization, and I’m proud to once again support a charity that has meant so much to me and my family. Since 2001, TC has provided unconditional support to all those affected by the Sept. 11th terrorist attacks, and in recent years, it has broadened its reach and mission, focusing on the military and first responder communities, as well as others coping with traumatic loss.
This year will be my ninth NYC marathon, and the eighth in which I am partnering with TC. Over the years, I’ve been lucky enough to have my roles within TC evolve, first as a fundraiser, then as a youth mentor, and lately, as a member of the charity’s Board of Directors. There’s no way to quantify the impact TC has had on me individually or the people it serves collectively. Still, the least I can do is attempt to repay the debt of gratitude I owe, and build on the $250,000 raised in my eight previous fundraising campaigns.
Thanks to the generosity of my friends, families & colleagues, I’m aiming high this year. My goal is to raise $19,000, and I’ve chosen that number not just because its 2019, but because this will be my nineteenth marathon. I’ll look forward to raising that goal, and hope to see many of you marathon Sunday, November 3rd.
