Troutman [‘trau̇t - ‘man] n. : She/He who has proven their stupidity, luck, and dedication to the conservation of native trout and the stewardship of public lands through the completion of the following challenge:
- Raise $500 for native trout conservation
- Catch the Colorado Grand Slam (Cutthroat, Rainbow, Brown, Brook)
- Drink 12%+ abv craft beer
- All in the course of running a mountain marathon (26.2+ mi/ 4000+ ft gain)
This summer I will throw my name into the hat and make an attempt(s) at completing this challenge. I hope to use this opportunity to raise a bit of awareness around the challenges faced by our native trout today and raise money for an organization that I wholeheartedly believe in.
Running Rivers is a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to facilitate the connection of people with healthy freshwater ecosystems through novel recreational events, educational activities and on-the-ground projects.
You will be able to follow along (most likely through Instagram) as I “train”, scout, and, ultimately, send it. I'll be posting photos and stories showcasing the beauty of our public lands and some educational pieces to increase all of our knowledge and awareness around freshwater fish conservation.
