During the month of November, ArtSmart Trout Lake of the Trout Lake Arts Council is raising money to supply the Trout Lake School with iPads, cases and styluses. These iPads will be used by the grades 5-12 Art and Spanish classes which reach 160 students.
In the Art classroom, the iPads will be used in the Digital Drawing curriculum. Digital drawing is a growing medium used by professional artists. The iPads provide a simple interface for learning skills which can help prepare and inspire careers in graphic design, illustration, storyboarding, and more. Incorporating technology and art keeps today’s tech savvy students engaged.
In the Spanish classroom, the iPads will be used to create digital storytelling and digital illustrations within the Spanish language. Digital storytelling serves several purposes in a language classroom - presentational writing, presentational speaking, language repetition, and interpersonal communication - as well as provides students the opportunity to work with video editing software. These media arts skills can be used in many settings beyond the Spanish Classroom to communicate ideas, proposals, and information in an engaging manner.
The requested funding goes entirely toward the purchase of these iPads. All donations to ArtSmart Trout Lake and the Trout Lake Arts Council are tax deductible.
