Founded in 1994, TROSA is an innovative, multi-year residential program that empowers people with substance use disorders to be productive, recovering individuals. TROSA provides no cost housing, meals, health services, clothing, transportation, counseling, vocational training, continuing care, and so much more ... and we provide this for free so that our residents can focus on what matters most: their recovery.
We serve a daily average of 500 men and women working to rebuild healthy lives in recovery . And we serve the most vulnerable of our friends, family, and neighbors: over 80% of our residents have been incarcerated prior to coming to TROSA, and over 90% have no health insurance.
While our world has had to press “pause” on day-to-day activities to halt the spread of COVID-19, TROSA’s work cannot – and will not – stop. It costs TROSA approximately $19 million a year to provide our residential care 24 hours a day and 7 days a week to a daily average of 500 individuals. Our social enterprises, including TROSA Moving and TROSA Thrift Store, are designed to provide vocational training for our residents while also helping us pay for over 50% of our annual operating expenses.
On March 18, TROSA announced the suspension of TROSA Moving and TROSA Thrift Store to ensure the health and safety of our community.
We project that this will result in over $100,000 in lost weekly revenue from TROSA Moving and over $50,000 in lost weekly revenue from TROSA Thrift Store. These are losses for our operating revenue for TROSA.
Your gift today will go far. Your donation will be matched by the "Help the Helpers" campaign ... and as approximately 70% of TROSA's staff are graduates of recovery programs themselves, you are truly helping the helpers with your generous gift today. Thank you!
