About a year ago my wife Elizabeth and I started attending Triumph DC. We are a young family of 4 in our nation's capital that was in search of a church that would help us grow in our spirituality and build community in our new home.
The first time we entered the front doors of the school across the street where Triumph was hosting Sunday services, we were greeted with open arms and warmly received into what would eventually turn into what we see as lifelong friendships.
During our short time attending Triumph, God has been doing some amazing things in our hearts. I have personally connected with God for the first time in my life in a real and tangible way, and it is completely amazing what He has done for our relationship. I completely attribute this to surrounding ourselves with people who without a shadow of doubt put Christ first in their lives.
I grew up going to church, but the message never really stuck with me. Half the time I was being dragged to church and when I was there, I was completely distracted with other things I thought were more important at the time. This led into years of living life for myself and a bunch of destructive behavior that was pushing me further and further away from God and His purpose for my life.
I'll never forget the Sunday when Pastor Deamon preached about the type of God we serve. He said
"Our God is not just a God on Sundays, and not just a God for the righteous. He is a God that brings LIGHT INTO THE DARKNESS and is so powerful, that He can get you through ANYTHING."
At this moment, a stream of tears rolled down my cheeks in the middle of church. I felt the relief and the weight of the lie that "I wasn't good enough for God" fell off of my back.
My wife and I started intentionally investing in these new relationships and started attending community group. In these small weekly gatherings I swear I got to know some of the members of my church more than I had come to know friends I've had for decades. I started realizing how this church was DIFFERENT, and that everyone God had brought here was for a very specific purpose.
It is no secret that the great city of Washington D.C. needs a light to be shined on the darkness that has plagued this city in many ways. Triumph DC is a very unique group of people that I believe are uniquely gifted to influence this city in a MAJOR way. It is full of some of the most genuine and kind-hearted people I have ever met, and I know for a fact that we will continue to make a difference here in our city!
With your help, we can solidify a brand new church facility that we can occupy 24/7 and bless the members of our community! We can't do it without you so please consider giving what you can and sharing! REMEMBER, we are MATCHING up to $5,000 in donations until 11/30/2019!!!!
Thank you all!
