Trilatino Youth Development Program: Next Generation of Athletes
Hi everyone! Here I am again! Though my personal racing and training goals have changed, my desire to help the Youth from the Latino Community has not. I will be going head to head of my fear of open water swimming yet again for a great cause. Any time during my training when I've felt scared and weak, I envision these kids from our Junior's Program to help carry me through. I will have their faces in my head during my race where I will be jumping into the Hudson River on July 21st to swim a little less a mile, then will be biking 25 miles and finishing with a 10k run ending in Central Park. I am doing this to fundraise for this year's Junior's Program. If it wasn't for this program fueled solely by generous donations, these kids would not have the opportunity to have their lives changed by training and participating in a triathlon of their own. Speaking from personal experience, when I did my first triathlon last year, my life changed in such a positive manner. I learned that I could set and accomplish any personal goals I never imagined I'd be capable of if I worked hard enough for them. These kids who face daily struggles due to their background and their economic standing learn what it is to feel part of a team of others who believe in them and they learn that if they put their dedication and motivation into their training, they can become TRIATHLETES. "Triathlete" is something I only discovered in my 30's but these teenagers already are given a huge step ahead of their peers and can begin down a road of positivity, hard work and self motivation. Through the world of athletics, these kids discover that they have what it takes physically and mentally. This carries over to their academics, into their friendships/networking and ultimately impacts their future. Sports teach kids to make better decisions for themselves.
Sharing health and positivity through physical sports with kids is extremely important to me. As a mother and fellow athlete, being able to introduce sports to my children has been wonderful. When children have access and means to take up different sports, they are gain new opportunities for their future. . If this is important to you and you agree, please support my fundraiser to help 20+ kids from 2 public schools in the South Bronx get access to gear and training with the Trilatino Traithlon Team and participate in the NYC Triathlon. These kids also learn important life skills, proper nutrition and of course, self discipline. Without the constant support from generous individuals, these kids would not have access to such opportunities. Even if this does not relate to you, please support me in my training by contributing your tax-deductible donation so I can help this cause. Every dollar counts. When we can help positively influence tomorrow's generation today. Thank you so much for your time , support and your donations.
