In September (9/22) I am competing in the Westchester Triathlon on behalf of Team EMC (Every Mother Counts). It’s my 4th triathlon this season.
Every Mother Counts is a non-profit organization dedicated to making pregnancy and childbirth safe for every mother, everywhere. Founded by Christy Turlington Burns, EMC has athletes running for the global cause of improving maternal health, in part because distance is one of the biggest barriers preventing women from accessing healthcare.
I am asking you to make a donation of $30 to EMC—the equivalent of $1 per every mile of my race. The goal is to raise $3000. Beyond supporting Team EMC, consider honoring your own mom with your contribution!
You can also be motivated to make a difference in these factoids about maternal health:
· Every year 303,000 women around the world die from complications of pregnancy and childbirth. · These global maternal deaths can be prevented by ensuring that women have access to quality, respectful and equitable maternity care. · In parts of the world, many women have to travel as far as 26 miles to reach a provider or clinic.
Donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law. Please donate and share my EMC fundraising page https://www.crowdrise.com/o/en/campaign/triathlon-for-emc-charity
I met EMC’s leadership at Big Sur marathon and running events. Now I am racing in this 30-mile Olympic distance triathlon in Rye NY, to raise awareness about EMC with an even broader community. Learn more about EMC and volunteer-led and official race events here.
Thanks for supporting EMC’s mission to improve maternal health for mothers everywhere.
