In Ukraine, parents of children with special needs are encouraged to hand their children over to state care. They are told their children are a burden on society. Children are sent to institutions where they are subjected to abuse and neglect. There is minimal support available to parents who fight to keep their children with them. Maya's Hope wants to help relieve some of the burden on these amazing parents and assist in keeping children with their families, where they belong.
"On September 19, 2018 at 11:15 am my Little Angel was born. His name is Egor. He’s my pride, I can’t find words to express what he means to me. Everything seemed to be just fine. But it was only in my mind. On September 21 he began to have a fever, 39.5 C (103.1 F), nothing helped him. He was put on intravenous therapy. On September 25th we were sent to the regional children’s hospital, where after multiple tests I was told a horrible news – my boy had purulent meningitis and cerebral hemorrhage on both sides. They’ve done many tests. Because of this he was diagnosed with hydrocephalus, shunt installation surgery was needed, so we had to find the money to make it happen. The surgery was done, we were discharged from the hospital."
Egor and his family now need your help to fund the treatments and therapies he needs to meet his developmental milestones and thrive! He has endured a lot in his short life, he is a fighter!
