In 2014, at the young age of 34, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Once you make it through the treatments and surgeries and recoveries you start to breathe a little easier. One thing that has struck me as I've lived through this and have read about and met other survivors is the fear of financial ruin during treatment. The questions of will you be able to continue to work? Financial toxicity is a real and devastating side effect of a cancer diagnosis. This is our fourth year fundraising for The Donna Foundation. The foundation provides direct-to-patient support and funds groundbreaking research through their partnership with the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. In addition, for every $100 we raise this year, Brendan and I will donate $10 to MeStrong in memory of Melissa Anne who succumbed to metastatic melanoma this past October.
