We became aware of Ainsley's Angels at a Christmas party, signed up and haven't missed a race with AA in Northeast LA since.
At first I watched, cheered, etc. Now I run.
For the past 5 years, Travis and I stopped living, having a life, lived in fear and seclusion. His step Dad took a wrong path in 2013 ended his life and he attempted to take Travis and me with him. Life turned upside down. I was blamed, threatened. It was traumatic on both of us. Long story short, we moved and cut off the world.
That Christmas party is the one thing once a year where Travis isn't treated like he is strange or feared, but now we have a new family and have began to live again.
AA has saved us. Travis beams in the chair. We ARE a TEAM. I had his 6 that night and ALWAYS will no matter what. I run everyday possible to be strong enough to push Travis. Someone has to sit with him for me to do that. He's the main piece of the team and needs to be with me training. Plus we could do more races, and go to the park more. We have always been a team, but since Sept 2013 we really have been team Travis.
I want Travis to see, touch, experience all I can possibly make happen. He deserves so much and if a pink chair can make him as happy as they do then I will drop my pride and ask for help to give it to him. His joy fills my heart. AA has changed us both so much. Happier and more excitedly than we have been in years.
