Going into Giving Tuesday, we are keeping our campaign site live to receive donations from this generous community to help keep our program afloat. We are in critical need state as we were not able to raise the funds we normally do through our summer camp fundraising efforts due to Covid 19.
We are so very grateful for the turnout of support from this community.
-gathered critical supplies and support from our partners: Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful, Davis Islands Civic Association Green Initiative, and Tampa Bay Watch.
-rallied 102 volunteers, ages from 5 to 81 years old, for more than 600 man hours
-had youth representation from 5 area high schools (87 from Plant High School!), 3 middle schools, 3 elementary schools, Sea Scout Ship 210, and Boy Scouts of America Troop 4
-cleaned waterways with 6 power boats, 2 sail boats and 5 paddle boards
-picked up over 120 bags of trash, two large wood floating docks, two giant pieces of styrofoam, a barricade, hundreds of cans, glass and plastic bottles, cigarette butts, bottle caps, straws, plastic and paper
-celebrated with 80 scoops of free ice cream for volunteers at Farrells on the Island
-spread the news with interviews of PHS Beta Club and Sailing Team kids by Channel 13 and 28
The Davis Island Youth Sailing Foundation (DIYSF) is a non-profit corporation that was founded for the purpose of teaching and promoting recreational, competitive and safe sailing to the children of the Tampa Bay area and beyond. All donations are tax deductible under article 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Saturday, November 28th, 2020 (sunrise to sunset) DIYSF will be collecting trash to clean our waterways, beaches, and businesses in a community we love.
Each year we raise funds for the purchase and maintenance of sailboats used by different fleets of youth sailors, ages 8-18. We also offer summer learn-to-sail camps, including several no-cost "Sailorships" to kids that are financially challenged.
Your tax-deductible donation will go a long way to offset the many costs associated with running a youth based organization, particularly in a year where we were not able to raise enough money with our summer camps...and keep our program afloat. The Davis Island Youth Sailing Foundation could not do what it does without the generous support of a caring community.
Thank you for your consideration!
