Transplant Unwrapped is a nonprofit organization with the mission to educate clinicians, patients, caregivers, and the general public about intestinal rehabilitation and intestinal and multivisceral transplantation.
Transplant Unwrapped began with the vision of our founder and two-time intestinal transplant recipient, Kayla, who saw a gap in the support and resources available for intestinal rehabilitation and multivisceral patients. As Kayla began reaching out to clinicians at intestinal rehabilitation and transplantation centers across the nation, the clinicians agreed that a resource and support system for this patient and caregiver population was very much needed. A physician from Medstar Georgetown Transplant Institute stated: “This is fantastic work! I have been wanting something like this for a long time as it is such a difficult process for our patients to get information about bowel transplant before their transplant. There’s a lot of bewildering information out there and the time is perfect to establish a reliable source of information geared towards the patient.”
No patient or family should have to endure the intestinal rehabilitation and transplantation process alone.
