On Sunday, June 21 hundreds of teammates will come together to run the Boston Athletic Association’s 10K® road race to support Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) and Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital (BWFH ). BWH and BWFH care for patients across New England, throughout the United States, and from 120 countries around the world. Every day, our clinicians, researchers, and caregivers work to find new ways to predict, prevent, and treat the most challenging diseases of our time while delivering world-class care with a profoundly human touch. Our B.A.A. 10K teams are proud to fuel quality patient care, innovative training, and life-changing discoveries that will benefit patients here in Boston and around the world.
Specifically, I am raising funds for the BWH Palliative Care Team. This team is dedicated to providing comfort and symptom management to patients experiencing extreme disease-related issues (pain, nausea and vomiting, delerium, etc). Many of these patients (but not all) are at the end of their lives, and the Palliative Care team ensures these patients remain as comfortable as possible. In my new career as an Oncology Nurse, much of my job involves providing palliative care, and I've seen the positive impact it has on patients and their families during a really difficult time. Your donation helps this team study and provide even more comforting care.
