We'd like to start off by thanking everyone who is on the front lines of this crisis fighting for those of us who are able to stay at home. There are too many of you to name, but we'd all be lost without you. While the current situation is devastating to our people, economy, and normal way of life - there is also an area that is being heavily impacted but gets very little attention.
Unfortunately, Mother Nature neither "self-quarantines" nor "social distances". While we try to stay safe in our homes, unfixed cats are still getting pregnant and having babies right and left. Not only is the continued population explosion a problem, but because of the shelter-in-place rule, most vets and spay/neuter clinics have ceased doing any non-emergency surgeries. This is creating a vicious cycle.
With the local shelter-in-place orders, we are no longer able to hold our large adoption events. A large part of our funding is acquired through our adoption fees and donations at these events. We are still doing adoptions on a one-to-one basis, but as you can imagine, our funding has trickled to almost nothing.
We may be quarantined, but that hasn't stopped the daily calls asking for help. From abandoned newborns to pregnant or nursing moms, backyard kittens and discarded adults - they all need vaccinations, deworming medications, and most importantly, spays and neuters.
We know that a lot of people are going through hard times right now. If you find yourself in a place to give, we'd appreciate any amount you are able to donate. As they say, every little bit helps. Our goal is $5000, which is the equivalent to being able to fully vaccinate, spay/neuter, combo test and microchip 50 kittens.
Thank you for your generosity.
We also have a chance to win a $1000 matching grant. The grants are given to nonprofits that raise at least $1000 online from ten or more donations through their GoFundMe Charity campaign, up to $300,000 total. The sooner we can raise $1000, the better our chances to win a matching grant.
