Thomas's friends and family ran a combined 140 miles during the 2020 Miami races and raised almost $17k for the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science in his memory. During the pandemic, Frost used the money we raised to support 10 weeks of in-person and virtual summer camps for 4th to 8th grade children. Frost was the first cultural institution to re-open to the public in Miami, and because of the precautions they took, there were no reported COVID-19 cases among campers the entire summer.
Thomas was a kid who was constantly on the move and loved being outside, so I know he would love that we helped ensure that kids were not stuck inside and glued to the TV for months, but instead learning about the ocean and the animals he loved.
The 2021 Miami races will be virtual, but we hope to continue to honor Thomas by running 5k races in our respective cities and raising money for Frost. Because Frost is an aquarium and can never really close, funds raised will go towards helping provide critical care for their animals. Please consider donating and join us in celebrating Thomas’s life.
