Hello I am the founder and coach for Titan Swim. We are a small hard working High School Swim Team and we need assistance replacing swim equipment in order to hold sanctioned swim meets. We have 1 pool in our area located at our local YMCA. Our Y is the smallest in our area and one of the smallest in our state. However, it offers the highest number of scholarships. It would be considered a real community center for our small town and actually services 4 small towns in our area. We have 1 legal sized; unheated pool. Our pool has been the site of countless swim lessons, boyscout badge tests, summer camp cool offs, and lots of small swim league meets. Our equpment is used to say the least. Our lane lines are 25 years old and have been restrung and wired together every summer for many of those years. Our YMCA has done all it can to manage to stay open and offer the scholarships for membership and lessons within our community. They have done their best to meet the needs of the locals and keep the doors open, but there is no extra money for any new equipment...especially pool equipment. As a matter of fact we are down to the bare bones summer months of being able to have our pool open. As a Florida native it is imperative that our children and everyone have swim knowledge...so in my opinion the pool is a safety net. This year has not allowed for any fundraising that could meet the amount necessary to replace the lane lines...but we simply can't wire them together anymore. The closures and restrictions of Covid have been relentless and now that there seems to be a break in restrictions we have the chance to get back to swimming. Our Team is in desperate need of replacing the lane lines in order to hold sanctioned meets and to keep our swimmers from being injured.
My swimmers have worked incredibly hard. We train a quarter of the time the other teams around us are able becuase we simply have such limited pool access. We train at 6am before school starts to limit the pool guards needed and minimize cost. Our team still has produced district and state level swimmers....because they simply wont give up....they are dedicated and love swimming. Any help for our program would be outrageously gracious and ever so welcomed. Thank you for your consideration GO TITANS!
