A Tiny House For a BIG Dream of a Better LIFE For Adults With Autism!
1 in 59 children have autism spectrum disorder in the United States, a developmental delay that affects a person's communication, language and behavior. Over the next decade over 500,000 children with autism will be turning 21 and federally mandated services through the school district will end leaving parents concerned about their adult child’s future. Many students that leave the school system still need support but most of those supports are not readily available because we don’t have the same kind of system in place for adults. Adults living with autism in our community need educational and employment opportunities as well as housing options to live and be productive members of our community.
LIFE Village was chosen by Appalachian State University's Construction and Design Class to be the recipient of a tiny house! We have GIANT dreams for this tiny house! The tiny house will be built as a cozy house for a resident to enjoy an easy to maintain, environmentally friendly home!
We need your help to build our tiny house and make a dream come true! Appalachian State's Construction and Design class will provide the knowledge and muscle needed to build the house and we can help by providing the necessary materials for LIFE Village’s tiny house.
