Tim came into my life 7 years ago as a rescue He was confident and self assured and perfect in a foster environment. 3 years later I adopted Jake from SCCR. They immediately became inseperable. Tim was always watching over Jake. I enjoyed my experience with SCCR while adopting Jake and decided I would volunteer with their organization. I started as a handler at their Saturday Adoption Shows. But, I quickly turned to fostering. The experience of fostering cannot be explained in words, you must experience it. Tim showed me how to love and let go.
When dogs came to me sick or in need of surgery, it was Tim who slept in a bed next to theirs, or laid on the floor next to them as if to reassure them that all would be well and they were loved and cared for properly. When they had healed, he taught them the house rules by giving an example of how a dog should behave indoors. No dog left our home without heing housebroken, leash trained and appropriately vigilant. Once this was accomplished Tim walked away. He no longer fawned over them, or felt protective of them. He knew his job was done. From his example I learned that when my foster was healed both physically and mentally, I had completed my job and it was time for him to find his Furever Home. The next foster to come to our home received Tim's welcome, compassion and discipline over and over again. And I learned to let go over and over again. Tim taught me that compassion and love can extend past the walls of our home and reach out to find the next dog in need of our help.
And so, I felt what better tribute could i pay to my wonderful boy Tim then to have a kennel named after him in our new Adoption Center. I lost Tim suddenly but I am grateful that he felt no pain or loss of dignity through a prolonged illness. Jake and i miss him very much and would be so proud to see his name over one of our kennels.
SCCR is an organization that means a lot of things, to a lot of people. But to me, it means:
compassion and generosity of self.
I have decided to try to fundraise $2500 so that I can help them open an Adoption Center so they can rescue more dogs!
Please consider joining my team as a fundraiser, or giving a gift today. Every dollar helps me to get closer to my goal.
