At Timelist Group, Inc., we are very excited to announce that we are the fiscal sponsor for Peacemakers' Alliance. Peacemakers' Alliance is an unincorporated non-profit association that offers literacy and peace education programing to incarcerated men and women in California. Their work aligns with ours through a passion for serving adults, youth and families impacted by the criminal justice system. Peacemakers' Alliance programing aims to increase the human agency, literacy, and nonviolent conflict resolution skills of the incarcerated, formerly incarcerated, and youth. They offer experiential learning opportunities designed to instill hope and healing in the lives of those they serve.
Peacemakers' Alliance was formed in response to the need in California during the late 2000s for prisoner rehabilitative programing. In 2010, they piloted the first Critical Literacy and Peace Education course at the Deuel Vocational Institution, a medium-security prison in Tracy, CA. Since that time, services have expanded to two county jails in northern California. Programs continue to be developed to meet the educational and rehabilitative needs of participants. More than 1,000 prisoners have completed at least one program offered, e.g., critical literacy courses, conflict resolution retreats, facilitation trainings, peer-led support groups, peace education classes, therapeutic art and community service opportunities.
Timelist Group, Inc. now seeks financial support on behalf of Peacemakers' Alliance to extend these much-needed programs to southern California and serve parolees residing in our transitional houses and young persons participating in our Youth Leadership Academy. Together with Peacemakers' Alliance, we will continue the work to build community, inspire growth, and empower others to step into life during and after incarceration as agents for peaceful change. Through the support of generous donors, we hope to serve 375 prisoners, 30 youth, and 20 formerly incarcerated persons with Peacemakers' Alliance programing during the 19/20 fiscal year.
Thank you for believing in our work and championing the success of the often forgotten members of our society. We believe building community with criminal-justice-impact persons and at-risk youth is key to finding solutions for breaking the cycles of violence and poverty. Your financial contributions will transform and save lives. By supporting Peacemakers' Alliance you will be part of mending the brokenness in our society and healing our communities.
