Heart & Stroke Ball Information:
As a member of the 2020 American Heart Association’s Heart Ball Executive Leadership Team, I am beyond proud to stand with them in their fight against heart disease, stroke and COVID-19. You may have heard me speak before about the AHA being best known for their work in research, advocacy, best practices for systems of care but they also make a difference in community programs like Teaching Gardens, Farmers Markets, and the battle against homelessness.
With the surge of COVID-19, the AHA has stepped up to help the community, some examples are:
- Investing $2.5 million to fast-track cardiovascular research that can help coronavirus patients.
- Lend a helping hand to our community’s most vulnerable by expanding our collaboration with Food Forward and other local organizations to bring healthy, fresh produce to those who need it most through distribution sites in East LA and meal pick-up locations in Metro Los Angeles.
- Meet the needs of health care workers dealing with the coronavirus pandemic through remote-patient monitoring and solutions that can help manage patient load.
- Giving the NICU families at-home training in CPR that currently is not available given the short bandwidth of our medical professionals.
I’m so grateful for my friends and partners who are joining the AHA and myself in the fight for the health and wellness, we are stronger together!
