Hello: socially-minded friends, biking friends, friends who care about the world, friends who want to end inner-city violence, yoga friends, regular friends, and family.
On Sept 29th I am once again leading a team to ride in One Common Unity's Peace Ride. One Common Unity is non-profit organization founded and led by my friend Hawah that promotes art, music, and mindfulness education at high schools in Washington DC. They work with students through a year long program to develop their talents, help them connect to themselves in a meaningful way, and help them connect with nature through youth retreats out of the city. The program is life-changing for many DC youth that haven't had the opportunity have many significant experiences beyond their immediate communities. To learn more, take a look out thier powerful documentary Fly By Light.
So, in order to support OCU, I'm leading a biking team this September. The options and time to ride are flexible, the day is fun, and I've promised to attempt to raise some $$, so I hope you'll join me for even 1 loop if you can. Here are the deets:
When: Sept 29, 9am-5pm. Start any time, stop any time.
Where: Washington DC. Ride starts downtown near the Lincoln Memorial.
How long: The loop is 19 miles. We can ride one, two or six, depending whether or not there is a part in Mt. P. the night before.
What else? If you don't want to ride, you can just come hang out. There will be food, yoga, and other festivities at the base camp.
