My name is Tiffany Thompson. Most of the Seniors I graduate with from my Agricultural Communication program at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo will move right into graduate programs or good jobs. I believe I can something to give back for a year.
AgriCorps is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to connect American agriculture professionals to the demand for experiential, school-based, agricultural education in developing countries. This mission is so important that I cannot imagine not being a part of it, which is why I have committed to moving to Ghana for a year of service. While in West Africa, I will be working as an agricultural instructor, 4-H/FFA advisor, and agricultural extension agent.
For those of you who do not know me, I am from a small ranch in Oakdale, CA where I grew up raising livestock in 4-H and FFA. These organizations allowed me to discover my passions for agriculture and helping others while serving in a variety of leadership capacities. In 2013 and 2014, I had the opportunity to travel to Guatemala on two mission trips, which opened my eyes to serving in a very new context, a developing country. Those trips sparked something inside me, and since then, it has been my goal to continue doing work in developing countries. Through AgriCorps, I am able to combine all these passions.
I CANNOT DO THIS WITHOUT YOUR HELP!
As an AgriCorps Fellow, it is my responsibility to fundraise $3500, which goes to AgriCorps to help with logistics, training, program support, and building capacity with host organizations. I must have the total amount fundraised by July 1st.
Any amount that you can donate would be greatly appreciated! If you would like to learn more about AgriCorps, please visit https://agricorps.org/. I am also more than happy to answer any questions you have. Thank you for your support!
