**If you wish to donate directly to Miracle Feet to avoid fees you are welcome to do so. $300 was donated directly to organization**. When Thurman 22 weeks in utero, he was diagnosed with a birth defect called clubfoot and I was understandably very upset. However, what I wished someone had told me at that very moment was, “You have access to the best medical treatment, in the scheme of his life this is no big deal.” Clubfoot occurs in about 1 of 1000 births and is twice as common in boys that girls. The cause is unknown. As long as there is medical intervention, the child’s quality of life is not affected. However, in most parts of the developing world clubfoot goes untreated with devastating consequences. Children who grow up with a clubfoot can sometimes not walk or run, hold a job, get married and become social pariahs. Miracle Feet treats clubfoot in children who would not normally have access to treatment. For just $250 a child can be cured. I was thrilled to learn that the impact was so high for such a relatively small amount of money and would like to raise enough money to treat 3 kids in honor of Thurman's 3rd birthday. And yes, this photo is actually Thurman's feet!
