A few months ago, I met a woman who told me of her dream to "swim to Tampa". She asked me if I could help her train and help get her ready for such an event. I said "sure!...can you swim?"
We then met in a 25 yard pool and she demonstrated her swimming skills. I was impressed. Not with her amature swimming skills--but, with her incredible drive to accomplish her goal. I went on to learn in the next few swim lessons, that she really means it. The FROGMAN Challenge is a 5 kilometer swim. You swim from St.Petersburg to Tampa, Florida. ...across a shipping channel...in 55 degree waters... guided only by kayakers... and it's for charity.
I knew pretty soon into her training, that her drive and ambition to complete this open-water swim was infectious. Navy Seals have a motto "leave no man behind". As her new friend and personal trainer, I decided I could not let her swim alone for this tremendous challenge. Please support me and the Navy Seals Foundation in raising the money it takes to help the warriors when they return from battle and/or support the families of the heroes who don't return home.
I am committed to this challenge. The training is long. It will be tiring, It will be cold. There may be sharks. It will be a great honor to wear the dogtags of a past hero and leave no man behind as I swim across the ocean to Tampa this January.
